Maya Angelou’s Black History Month Special 2013, “Telling Our Stories,” features five celebrated guests, Kofi Annan, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys, Regina Taylor and Oprah Winfrey sharing candid stories about their paths to achievement and their place in the annals of black history. Maya Angelou, a 2011 recipient of the President’s Medal of Freedom and civil rights activist appointed by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as the Northern Coordinator for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, brings music, poetry, history and insight to the stories of her guests.

WHFR Benefit Concert Featuring Mardi Gras Jazz TONIGHT (Feb 9) at Joe Vicar's Andiamo Italian Steakhouse in Dearborn

HFCC's student-run public radio station WHFR-FM (89.3) will host a benefit concert featuring local Mardi Gras jazz artists Saturday, Feb. 9, at Joe Vicari’s Andiamo Italian Steakhouse, located at 21400 Michigan Avenue in Dearborn. This event takes place from 7 to 11 p.m. Headlining this benefit event is “In The Tradition” jazz ensemble. Other artists scheduled to play include Rosalind Sample-Mosley, Banjo Mike, and others. The concert offers a great opportunity to see these talented jazz acts in one spectacular night of live music. The cost to attend this special event is $5, payable to WHFR Radio. Guests can enjoy pasta buffet, food and drinks for an additional cost. All ages are welcome to attend.
