What is Blues?
BLUES is a music genre;
They are songs that "can't be sung without a full heart and a troubled spirit". A condition that has inspired countless blues singers, such as B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, Bobby Bland, and many other artists.
In lyrics, the Blues phrase is often used to describe a depressed mood. In 1827, it was in the sense of a sad state of mind that John James Audubon wrote to his wife that he "had the blues".
Everyone can get the Blues, any day of the week. But on a Saturday Night, Blues With A Feeling, comes “ON,” with your prescription! The cure is to know what to do with the blues. This broadcast will help you embrace the Blues and feel good.
Recent research has shown that blues can be therapeutic. If you are not fulfilled with your need to feel good, WHFR.FM is the only station “Making Waves.” It is the best station to lock-in your blues.
This broadcast provides therapy to those who have yet to get enough of “Feel Good Blues.” It is contagious and infectious, at best.
I am Anderson Coleman, producer and host of Blues With A Feeling! My line up comes with Classic Blues, R & B, POP and Country. I play music according to the requirements of my diverse listeners in the community. I take interviews and have had live -in -studio Blues artists as my guests.
I swoon my audience with melodies, humor and occasionally a little musical satire. And yes! Let’s not forget the main ingredient, “A Feeling!”. At night Blues With A Feeling will help your mood for any Saturday Night Par-Tae!
My Blues program is constantly changing. While each broadcast brings you a different theme, I introduce new and local artist’s music on a weekly basis.
While listening to this broadcast, you are certain to take away knowledge of current events, information, and education. And I deliver an enticing dialog, too!
And now, about Anderson Coleman. I started my radio career as a preteen, building miniature crystal sets. I took courses at the University of North Dakota, where I was an on-air personality in the news department. I followed up on my training at the University of Detroit. There, I took classes in Radio and Mass Media. I tested for and possess an FCC License, with Broadcast Endorsement. Subsequently, I landed my first paying job at WGPR 107.5 FM in Detroit. At that station, I received further training under the watchful eye of their top personality, “The Incomparable Electrifying Mojo.” I worked primarily as an engineer and was responsible for the News Feed. It came over on Teletype Machine (Rip “N” Read) and National Black Radio News was my source.
I arrived on campus at Henry Ford College in Dearborn, Michigan in 2006 to update my training in radio. My counselor at Henry Ford’s Registration suggested I take the TCM 189 class as a refresher for the experience I already possessed. I followed her advice and was trained by the then, Station Advisor, Jay Korinek. And here I am today, working to make a difference in the community, at WHFR 89.3 FM.
I quickly landed a slot on WHFR.FM as a fill-in personality. Later I was offered an opportunity to fill a vacancy, where I could practice my craft.
Finally, I love doing radio. I have a passion for making a difference in the community. I continued my broadcast career at WHFR 15- years ago. Here at 89.3 FM, the music hosts are allowed the artistic freedom to create their own programs.
Tell your friends and family to lock it-in to Blues With A Feeling from 8:00 to 10:00p. It’s on WHFR.FM, where my Saturday nights are always very special.
