JOHN MAYALL 89TH BIRTHDAY SPECIAL TUESDAY NOV. 29 4-6PM EST

John Mayall is often referred to as the father of British Blues. As a bandleader, vocalist, harmonica player and keyboardist, he has led groups that have launched the careers of such great blues guitarists as Eric Clapton, Peter Green and Mick Taylor.
Mayall has performed and recorded since the early 60's to this day. Join Pat Frisco on Tuesday, November 29, from 4-6pm EST for a special program honoring this great icon of music.

It's the 11th Annual Theme Attic Thanksgiving Day Show!!!

When everyone is preparing to gather for Thanksgiving Day, be kind and include WHFR! Theme Attic—a show normally heard on Wednesdays, continues a Holiday tradition for the 11th time Thursday from 10AM-2PM EST!!! Host Phil Maq will provide a musical main course that's loosley based on some Thanksgiving Day subjects along with some side orders that include several musical styles—some are local, and one will be a very tasty Top 9 at 11:09 Countdown! Join in the fun and take us along!!!

Monday Programming Switcheroo!

The great Monday bookend switcheroo at WHFR happened right here in the month of November. The House That Jack Swing Built with Missy J, jumped the tracks to Monday mornings 10:00 am – 12:00 noon with Hotwax radio and the White Rabbit quickly hopping into Missy J’s vacant timeslot, 8:00pm -10:00pm Monday evening. The magical wonderland of Monday’s show schedule will keep your ears tingling all through the day and deep into the night.

DETECTIVES ON SUNDAY NIGHT MYSTERIES

Featured on our November 13 show are six tales of detective adventures.
All are from the CBS Network.

We start with a series that has only become available during the past couple years and had been extremely rare previously. Now we have over 40 episodes. MR. CHAMELEON is the police officer who uses disguises to trap criminals played by Joseph Kearns.

Paul Blake Smith is the author of “President Eisenhower's Close Encounters,” just released via Foundations Publishing. He previously authored “MO41, The Bombshell Before Roswell” related to the April 1941 UFO event outside his hometown of Cape Girardeau, Missouri as well as other books resulting from his research into UAP matters. Paul has been a guest on “Coast to Coast AM”, Linda Moulton Howe's “Earthfiles” report and has been interviewed by long-time investigative reporter, George Knapp. Join the interview on Monday, November, 7 at 2PM on We Are Not Alone – only on WHFR.

Live from the campus of Henry Ford College... Collectables expert Tom Eurich may be on with us again soon to bring us up to date.
Also, we'll be talking with colleague, entrepreneur, broadcaster, Founder of Ron Robinson Studios, and Producer-Director of "Radio Daze The Movie (and Podcast) 101 Years."
Preparing for his upcoming movie, Ron has completed 40 video interviews with many names you'd recognize in Detroit radio and elsewhere. We'll get the latest scoop from Ron and maybe a sneak sample or two.

It's the night before Halloween, and here at WHFR, Orson Welles returns from the grave NOT with War of the Worlds, but as the evil Dr. Patrick Cory in "Donovan's Brain" a 2-part Suspense show.

Special Holiday Programming: The Phantom of the Opera

Join WHFR host Joe Sullivan Friday Oct 28th for a spooky special episode of Big Band, Broadway, and Beyond from 10a-Noon. In honor of the Halloween holiday, Joe will be spotlighting music from Andrew Lloyd Webber's 1986 smash broadway hit "The Phantom of The Opera".

Mrs. Robinson returns to the WHFR airwaves for one night only!: Friday, October 14th from 8-10pm

Lara Hrycaj aka Mrs. Robinson and former WHFR Operations Manager will be spinning some of her new and old favorite indie rock, electronic and soundtrack tracks on this special show. She is in town for the WHFR Record Show which is Saturday Oct 15. Hrycaj left to WHFR airwaves to take an Assistant Professor in Media Studies position at Governors State University in University Park, IL. Tune in for this special show Friday Oct 14 at 8pm.

Pharoah Sanders Memorial Show: Spirits Rejoice Tuesday Sept. 27 4-10pm EDT

Pharoah Sanders has passed at the age of 81. They called him "A Force of Nature" and indeed his powerful sound on the tenor and soprano saxophones was loved by many and an inspiration to a whole generation of jazz and world musicians. Pharoah spent his formative years in the mid sixties with the great John Coltrane and forged a unique approach to music that leaned heavily on spirituality and the expression of love and peace. His career spanned seven decades with a wealth of recordings as a leader and sideman. Join me for a special Memorial this Tuesday on WHFR Radio, Spirits Rejoice.

We Are Not Alone – Monday, September 5, 2022 – 2-3 PM. EST

Kevin J Briggs is an author who specializes in consciousness and the connection to ET/UFOs. His recently published book “Spiritual Consciousness a Personal Journey” covers 57 years of his experiences of ET contact and UFO connections. Kevin has been a guest on the Whitley Strieber radio show, Unknown Country and many others. He and host David Twichell will discuss his book and ET implications on Monday at 2PM.

Planned Power Outage at HFC will Take WHFR Radio Off the Air - This Saturday 4pm Through Sunday

WHFR Radio will go off the air this Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening/Monday morning. To continue their work on the Integrated Energy Management Plan (IEMP), the HFC Facilities crew will conduct a main campus electrical shutdown at Henry Ford College, where WHFR's broadcast operation transmits from. The affected times/days will begin at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, and run through Sunday, August 28. We will plan to get WHFR back on the air as soon as possible once the power is restored.
