ARTIST SPOTLIGHT Week - Sunday May 15 to Saturday May 21

Starting Sunday (May 15) WHFR will be hosting its annual ARTIST SPOTLIGHT WEEK. From Sunday to Saturday (May 21) listen to your favorite WHFR shows spotlight a particular artist or a group of artist on their show. A wide variety of local, national and international artists will be spotlighted all week.

SUNDAY:
ACOUSTIC ALTERNATIVES (10am-1pm) – John will feature a different artist each hour starting with Raul Malo, then Eddie From Ohio and the final hour will feature Lynn Miles.

ONE PLUS ONE SHOW (9pm-Midnight) – Mrs. Robinson will be dedicating her show to the music and bands of Fred Thomas like Saturday Looks Good To Me, City Center, Mighty Clouds and Swimsuit.

MONDAY:
THE FLASH DRIVE JAZZ SHOW (10am-4pm) In an extended edition of The Flash Drive Jazz Show, Marc Anthony will focus on a different artist each hour. Hear jazz organist Joey DeFranceso, alto saxophone player Tia Fuller, drummer Jeff “Tain” Watts, modern funk jazz After 5 Jazz Ensemble, jazz pianist and composer Pamela Wise, and Grammy winner Esperanza Spalding on Monday.

THE ZONE (9pm-midnight) – Origix and D.C will feature Detroit rapper Royce Da 5’9” and the Beastie Boys .

TUESDAY:
LEFT OF THE DIAL (10am-Noon) – Alex will be featuring TV On The Radio

LYRICAL INFUSION (2-4pm) – The Diva will be featuring to hometown girls as her artist spotlight: Shelia Landis and Diane Reeves.

GO WITH THE FLOW MIKE HOLLOWAY SHOW (4-6pm) will feature both incarnations of The Nightcats – Little Charlie and The Nightcats and Rick Estrin and The Nightcats.

WEDNESDAY:
CULTURE CITY RADIO (Noon – 2pm) – Steve Homer will be focusing Sleater-Kinney and bands associated with this post-Riot Grrrl group.

THE MID-DAY MIX (2-4pm) - Melissa will be featuring indie/southern rock band and Grammy nominated artists - Band of Horses.

NOISE POLLUTION (8-10pm) – Mike and Mike will be featuring the legendary jam band Phish.

THURSDAY:
THEME ATTIC (10am-Noon) DJ Phil Maq will feature two prog rock bands: Renaissance and Be Bop Deluxe.

BLUESTIME (Noon-2pm) - Roger will bring you Detroit legend Melvin Davis

GLOBAL VILLAGE PARTY (2-4pm) In honor of Bob Marley’s death 30 years ago this month, Margaret will celebrate his life and music along with other musicians Marley influenced and plus so of his contemporaries.

THE MIX (9pm-Midnight) – DJ BAM will have DJ Roach and the DTM DJs in the mix.

SOUTHERN BLUES (Midnight – 2am) - The Jumper will be highlighting the work of blues and soul singer Bobby Bland.

FRIDAY:
BIG BAND, BROADWAY, AND BEYOND (10am-1pm) – Joe will devote his show to work of Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby.

SPACE IS THE PLACE (6pm-midnight) - Tom will be doing a very special 6 hour MOOG-A-THON celebrating Dr. Robert Moog's creation and the bands that feature the moog in their music.

SATURDAY:
NO BOYS A-LOUD (Noon-2pm) – Lynn will interview Detroit jazz singer Shahida Nurullah and talk about her great life stories, cooking, working with some of the great in Detroit jazz along with featuring her music.

BLUES WITH A FEELIN’ (4-6pm) Anderson will be featuring two great blues vocalists: Ms. Jody and Johnnie Taylor

PLAYING IN THE WAVES (6-8pm) Lynsey will be featuring Recess Monkey - three elementary school teachers from Seattle who rock!

DELICATE DESTRUCTION (8-10pm) - Kris with a K is back on the air and will be featuring Mastodon and Detroit's own Walls of Jericho.
